Sustainability

Gold & Silver

At Jan Logan we work with gold, platinum and silver. As we manufacture primarily in our Sydney studio, we are able to carefully monitor the materials used and the provenance of those materials. All our metal merchants are certified with the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) as meeting ethical, human rights, social and environmental standards as established by the RJC’s Certification System.

The membership ensures they are held to the highest standards in terms of producing superior quality, as well as acting morally and ethically with their business partners.

Chain

Our gold and platinum chain are primarily sourced from a leading manufacturer in Germany that has invested heavily in technology to ensure that the quality is of the highest possible standard. This family company, which has been operating for many years, is also a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).

Diamonds

All of Jan Logan diamonds are sourced with care and dedication. We only source from family owned established companies that share the same values as us. All of our large diamonds come with GIA certificates - the Gemmological Institute of America was established in 1931 and is the world’s foremost authority on diamonds. All of our diamond suppliers adhere to the Kimberly process, a commitment to remove conflict diamonds from the global supply chain

Coloured Gemstones

At Jan Logan we specialise in jewellery designs featuring coloured stones. Approximately 80% of the world’s coloured gemstones come from small-scale producers, across many countries, where the mining of these stones is a cultural tradition. Subsequently over many decades in business, we have established a small group of suppliers that have similar values to our company. We trust these companies implicitly to not only supply a supremely sourced and expertly cut product, but to operate in a way that is honourable and environmentally sustainable.

South Sea Pearls

For many years, Jan Logan has been renowned for designing contemporary pieces using Australian South Sea pearls. Our South Sea pearls are sourced from an Australian family owned company that have farms all along the Kimberley coastline in North West Australia.

All of their South Sea pearls are collected by hand, which is the most environmentally friendly and sustainable form of collection, as it causes no damage to the seabed and has earned the Australian industry an international reputation as a model of best practice.

Their third-party certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) was a world-first for the pearling industry. As an internationally recognised marine conservation organisation, the MSC’s science-based benchmark is the gold standard in independent certification.

Employee Engagement

At Jan Logan, are we are enormously proud to have been manufacturing our own jewellery for over 25 years. Our carefully selected team of jewellers, setters, polishers and stringers are completely dedicated to their craft and strive every day to create perfection and absolute quality.

It takes years to become an accomplished jeweller and our team of artisans take great pride in their craftsmanship and ability to interpret and create beautifully unique pieces of jewellery. Over the years we are proud to have employed people from all over the globe, regardless of gender, race or religion, whilst at the same time learning about their culture and customs
