Jewellery Care Guide
Proper day-to-day care is essential when wearing jewellery. Pieces can easily catch on clothing or be knocked against hard surfaces without notice. To help preserve your jewellery, we recommend making it the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off each day.
Remove your jewellery before engaging in activities such as:
- Using household cleaning products
- Sleeping
- Gardening
- Swimming or submerging in water
These precautions help prevent unnecessary wear, damage, or loss.
Store each jewellery piece individually in a dry, cool place. Avoid letting gemstones, pearls, or metals rub against each other to prevent scratching, tangling, or tarnishing.
General cleaning can be done at home using warm soapy water and a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean under metal settings. Avoid brushing directly over gemstones and pearls to prevent damage or scratches. Finish by drying your jewellery with a soft microfibre cloth.
- White Gold: Rhodium plating may wear off over time. We offer rhodium plating services – please get in touch with us for a quote. It is recommended to get re-rhodium plating every 18-24 months depending on the wearer.
- Sterling Silver: Sterling silver may oxidise over time. Buff with a polishing cloth to bring back the shine.
- Store chains separately to prevent tangling.
- Remove chain pieces before dressing to avoid stretching and weakening.
- If clasps become loose or knots occur, contact us for inspection or repairs.
- Clean with warm soapy water and a soft-bristle toothbrush.
- Store separately to avoid damage.
- Clean with a soft, damp cloth.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and cleaners.
- South Sea pearls are quite delicate. Hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all costs, unless it’s been suggested by our master jewellers.
- Pearls should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching.

Repairs
Each JAN LOGAN jewellery piece is unique and delicate in nature and therefore should be handled carefully. However, sometimes an item is damaged, and JAN LOGAN is pleased to offer a repair service.
All JAN LOGAN jewellery comes with a complimentary six-month warranty, covering manufacturer's defects. We will cover the cost of repairs or provide a replacement. If an identical replacement is unavailable, an item of equivalent value will be offered. Certain exclusions apply, as outlined below.
To maintain warranty coverage, customers must:
- Follow our jewellery care guide.
- Avoid any third-party work, such as cleaning, resizing, or repairs. Work done outside JAN LOGAN will void the warranty.
- Bring the item to JAN LOGAN for an annual check-up and assessment.
Damage resulting from normal wear and tear, improper care, or negligence is not covered. In such cases, the cost of repairs will be quoted after assessment. Only genuine manufacturer's defects are covered in this warranty. We recommend insuring your jewellery to cover accidental loss, theft, or damage beyond our warranty.
Repairs for manufacturing defects that occur within the first six months of purchase are covered under warranty. JAN LOGAN will either cover the cost of necessary repairs or provide a replacement if repairs are not feasible. If an identical replacement is unavailable, a comparable item will be provided.
For damage due to wear and tear, improper care, or repairs outside the six-month warranty period, we offer paid repair services. Costs will vary based on the extent of damage, and a quote will be provided before work begins.
